Looking for the best rocking horse for a 1 year old? Well you may be surprised to find that you actually have some really great options when it comes to rocking horses and other fun animal rocking toys for this age group.
I remember having an old spring rocking horse when I was little and really wanted to get something fun for my daughter to ride when she turned a year old. Once I started doing my research I was amazed at how much rocking toys have changed over the years and how many cool options were out there.
You’ll find that you are definitely not limited to just a rocking horse for your one year old, but instead will find all kinds of cool rocking animal toys for your child to have hours of fun with.
The Best Rocking Horse for a 1 Year Old – My Pick
After reading all the rocking horse reviews and taking into consideration my budget I decided on the Rockin’ Rider Pony for my daughter’s first birthday gift.
There were quite a few features on this toy that I really liked and thought would be best for a one year old. You will find that although some rocking horses may say one year and older, the reviews from parents will tell a different story.
The pony is made from soft, plush material that is comfortable for your child and is super huggable. This makes the toy a lot more appealing than a hard plastic rocking horse. Plus, it does make the toy look more realistic for a child as well.
The pony will actually sing and talk when you press on the ear and the mouth even moves along with the words and noises. It even plays a super catchy “I’m a Little Pony” song that you will probably catch yourself singing along to. Kids can easily press the buttons on the ear while riding on the toy.
Another feature that I really like is that the base of the rocking horse has a non-slip step and is wide enough that it helps prevent the horse from tipping over. With some rocking horses you really have to be careful about it tipping over if your child rocks too hard or falling off backwards.
Lastly, this plush rocking horse is the perfect size for a one year old. Although older children will still get use out of it (I would not recommend for a child over the age of 3) I found that my one year fit on it perfectly. She could easily reach the base to put her feet down and steady herself and was even able to get up on the horse on her own after a few tries.
It’s not too high were I felt it was unsafe for her to ride on it once she got the hang of it down by herself.
The Rockin’ Rider Pony does come in a brown color as well as a white and pink style. You can also buy it on sale for a great price. I was actually able to score the rocking horse a great deal that was definitely worth the money.
There is also a newer version of this rocking horse in which the horse converts from a rocker to a roller. It turns right into a ride on horse for your toddler without needing any type of tools.
The Rockin’ Rider 2-in-1 rocking horse also talks and sings and is soft and huggable just like the original.
It just gives a slightly different option if when your child gets the hang of just rocking, they can take the horse around and roll as well.

Little Tikes Rocking Horse
This is another best selling rocking horse for toddlers that is actually a revamped and redesigned childhood classic toy.
The rocking horse is made from a durable plastic that makes it not only a nice indoor toy but can also be used for outdoor fun as well.
One of the features that a lot parents like on this rocking horse is the seat which has the back on it to help prevent your toddler from falling off backwards while rocking on the toy.
You will find that this rocking horse does sell for around the same amount as the Rockin’ Rider Pony but doesn’t come with any special features like music or sayings and it may not hold your child’s attention for as long.
On the other hand some parents feel it is safer because of the back and it’s nice to be able to take it outside in the warmer months as well.
Little Tikes is known for their nice and durable toddler toys and the Little Tikes rocking horse is no exception.
