Although your one year old may not be ready for all the jelly beans and chocolate bunnies that usually come in Easter baskets, you can still put together an awesome Easter basket for a 1 year old.
It can be a lot of fun putting together your own Easter basket for your child instead of just buying a pre-made one. With your own Easter basket you can save money as well as ensure that you only buy items that your tot can use or want.
You don’t have to go overboard on a basket, especially for a little one who is only a year old, but I do have plenty of ideas for a 1 year old’s Easter basket.
Easter Basket Ideas For 1 Year Old
Easter Board Books
There are lots of great Easter books for toddlers. For a 1 year old I would stick with short and colorful board books to keep her entertained as well as to prevent the book from being ripped apart,
If you are looking for good Easter basket books for your little one, here are a few of my recommendations.
What kid doesn’t love bubbles? If your child is a bit too small to actually blow the bubbles she can still enjoy popping them when you blow them. You can find regular bubbles at your dollar store or look for some fun bubble containers to really get her excited.
For children who just turned one you can stick with a beginner crayon or “chubby” crayons so they can grip them better. You can also find some cool other crayons like glitter crayons and twist up crayons as well.
Stuffed Bunny Or Other Plush Animal
I’m sure that when you were young you most likely got a stuffed bunny at least one year in your Easter basket, so you can carry on the tradition with your child. If you want to go a bit different route, then buy them a plush of their favorite animal or even character.
You can always use sippy cups for a one year old. You can go with a cup that you know your child likes or you can do something a bit different and spend a few extra dollars on a nicer sippy cup or one with your child’s favorite character or theme.
Not only do egg shakers fit the Easter theme, but they are also a great way to introduce your toddler to sounds and rhythm. Toddlers love shaking the eggs are all around and are great for playing songs or doing fun dances as well.
You don’t have to get any special type of bubble bath as I know some of them tend to irritate the skin sometimes. At our house we use The Honest Company Sweet Vanilla Orange bubble bath as it’s gentle on the skin and really smells good.
Introduce your tot to the wonderful world of finger painting. You can find special sets for toddlers or just simply stock up on a few jars of paint to include in the basket. You can even add in some construction paper along with the paints.
There are all kinds of fun balls you can buy for your toddler. You can pick a small, soft one that can be used indoors or buy a larger bouncy rubber ball for kicking and tossing outdoors.
Although your one year old may not be drawing masterpieces anytime soon, she can still enjoy some sidewalk chalk. You can draw some pictures for your tot and let her scribble in her own way to just spend some time outdoors. Plus parents will love the stand up sidewalk chalk holder so they don’t have to kill their back drawing with their child.
Yogurt Melts Or Other Yummy Toddler Snacks
Does your toddler have a favorite snack that you can include in her Easter basket? Toddler snacks like yogurt melts, puffs, and goldfish crackers make a great addition to an Easter basket for a one year old.
A cool toothbrush can get your toddler even more interested in brushing her teeth. Plus its something that is not only fun but is also practical that you know that will get used.
Wooden Toddler Puzzle
At a year old, a child is usually old enough that they can start exploring with puzzles. Start off with the large peg wooden puzzles for toddlers as they are easier to manipulate for younger kids and usually only have about 4-6 pieces. If you have an older 1 year old then you can check out some other wooden toddler puzzles that have more pieces and are a bit more challenging.
If your tot is going to be doing some swimming this year, toss as swimsuit into her Easter basket. Although it’s a practical gift, you may just be surprised at how some toddlers get excited about new clothes.
Fun Beach Towel
To go along with the swimsuit you can also toss in a fun swim towel just for her in the basket as well. It could have her favorite character on it or her favorite animal.
Hooded Bath Towel
You can even find personalized hooded bath towels for kids or some fun animal or character ones that make bath time a lot more fun.
Bath toys are always a bit hit with toddlers. There are a variety of bathtub toys for toddlers from simple people or animal shaped squirters to even fun fishing sets for the tub. Here are some of my recommendations for some bath tubs for toddlers
Large Plastic Eggs Filled With Treats
Filling plastic eggs with treats is a pretty common gift for an Easter basket but when you fill your own eggs you can control what you give your toddler. If you are okay with your toddler getting a little bit of chocolate or candy then you can add some into a few eggs. If you are looking for some alternatives, fill the eggs with yogurt melts, cereal, or Annie’s bunnies snacks.
Small Baby Doll or Favorite Character Figure
A baby doll or fun action figure toy can put a huge smile on your toddler’s face. You don’t have to spend a lot of money though as you can find something for only a few dollars to add into the basket.
This is another practical but fun Easter basket idea for toddlers. Don’t just get plain, boring PJs, but pick something fun that you know they will love.
You can find all sorts of great DVDs that aren’t that expensive from toddler songs to Disney or Nick Jr. TV shows. You can choose something Easter themed or something that your tot has been interested in watching lately.
These just make another great cute fill-in gift that your toddler can use in the spring and summer time.
Most toddlers love playing with phones so why not get them their very own toy one? You can find all kinds of learning toy phones for toddlers or you can even check out some realistic looking phones as an option as well.
I was shocked by just how many fun and funky rubber ducks they make nowadays. You can find princess rubber ducks as well as ones that have an Easter theme. I have even seen sweet treat rubber ducks and super hero ducks. These ducks are not only fun for water time but can be played with whenever.
Hopefully with all these Easter ideas for a 1 year old you are able to make a great basket for your little one. You can use a combination of all the ideas above to really make a special, personalized basket instead of just wasting money on a generic one that you buy at a discount store.
Stop wondering what to put in a 1 year old’s Easter basket and start shopping for wonderful gifts using the ideas above.
